About Us

St. Peter’s was founded on November 30, 1849.  It is a Christian community built on the foundation of Word and Sacrament, reaching out to a hurting world with the Good News of Jesus Christ, the Love of the Almighty Father, and the power of the Holy Spirit. We strive to be a loving family caring for all people in the way of Jesus.

Worship services are held weekly on Sunday morning at 10:15. Occasionally in the summer, you might find us worshiping outside at our lovely picnic shelter. We also have special services during Lent, Holy Week, and for Christmas Eve.

Sunday School, with classes for everyone aged 2 to adult, is held weekly (first Sunday after Labor until the Sunday before Memorial Day) at 9 am. We have two youth groups as well. One is for third through sixth graders and one is for seventh through twelfth graders. Additionally, we offer Manna Night on Wednesday evenings and run an After School Program as ways of serving children, youth, and families in our communities.

Handicapped-accessible parking is available off Van Buren Street.
Additional parking can be found in the lot off Mars Evans City Road.

We believe that Jesus came to save us but also to help us live the life eternal now. To do so, he gave us the gift of Christian community, to love and care for each other and through that love and care, continue to grow the family. As a result, we have many fellowship events and opportunities, like dinners, a softball team, and outings, so we can deepen our connections with each other as a faith family. Likewise, we serve the community through activities such as packing up food in the Evans City Food Cupboard, which we house, and raising money for causes like ALS research and families impacted by Batten’s Disease.

We have been blessed to be served by Pastor Brandon Johns and his family since March of 2016. Pastor strives to lead us in the way of God’s love through word and also through actions, and tends to our community with even more care and nurturing than he puts into the gardens around the church. In addition to playing and coaching our softball team, Pastor helps to coach his daughters’ teams as able, serves locally and nationally on boards and ministry teams, coordinates our synod’s relationship with the church in Madagascar, gives presentations at the schools, and tries to squeeze in some hunting and fishing, too.
